Fatherless choice #1

By the end of the book Fatherless, we have some insights into why Mr. Gail chose that title. How does the title relate to his subject and characters?  Explain. (In other words, who is fatherless and how did it happen? What effect does being fatherless have on those who are fatherless?) Really think about this and relate to the book.

The title fatherless refers to churches around the world which some are fatherless and others which going to be. It refers to how some people are getting corrupt mainly priests. The churches are allowing terrible acts done by some church officials. Fatherless means that we are allowing our selves to be fatherless. We have fallen behind on our religious beliefs about God. We haven’t been at church on Sundays and we haven’t acted like the people of God, like Christian and that’s why the church is sometimes full of bad acts.

The characters in the book are fatherless. The reason for this is that most of the characters are put through choices that seem really unfair. For example Moia has to deal with her memories of being malested by a priest whom she probably trusted. In Moia's mind she is wondering why God would put her through this and this leads to her turning away from God. Moia turning away from God made her fatherless, since she doesn't believe that there is anyone watching over her. The effect that Fatherless has on those who really are fatherless is to show that they aren't going through the worst thing and that they have God watching over them at all times in their lifes.
Fatherless is a book telling us that no matter what bad things happen to us that God will always love us and try to lead us down the right path.

Father John Sweeney is the fatherless character in this story. Father John has lost his guidance through Christ, who, to a priest can be seen as a father figure and one who would guide in a time of need. Father John lost his was with God and did not know what to believe by the end of the story, and so he would be seen as Fatherless. The effect that it has on him is that he is in a moral state of dillema and does not know where to turn for answers because he does not have his faith to turn to anymore. This can be related towards anyone who has lost their way with god. People that lose their way with God are not able to have the guiding light and father figure that they need, even if they have an actual father, they will always need God to offer a helping hand. I think this is why Mr. Gail chose the name of the story. He chose it to show people that without God we will not have the helping figure that we so desperately need. And so this is why i think Mr. Gail chose the title. The book does help to show that the world can fall apart around us without God being there.
