It's a big world.

There are billions of people living on this rock we live in. Among them, there are probably a bit over a 1000 that we are actually acquainted with. More than a tenth of that thousand are people you may see on a daily basis whether it's going to school, work, or having fun. More than half of those people are your friends who you would hang out with frequently and such. And when you reach the bottom of those who are most friendly with you and you see almost all the time are your family and close friends. But what about everyone else. Those other billions of people have no idea who you are, who your friends are, what you do daily, etc. The same goes for you. Think of all the cars that drive down those traffic filled roads. All have a different agenda, different reasons for doing whatever it is they are doing, and a different family and groups of friends and emotional ties and every single thing that you have except entirely different. This realization has made me dizzy in thinking about the vastness of the earth. It has brought a new sense of wonder and awe into my life.

Chase Utley

Chase Utley made his first start of the year on Monday night against the Reds. He had been rehabing with the single A team Clearwater. He seemed ready and started at second base for the Phillies. Even though he went O-5 his impact jumstarted a slumping Phillies offense. The Phillies went for 10 runs and 14 hits. It was in all a great welcome back.
Everyone likes different sports but mine is soccer. I have played it since I was four and play for Bonner. I enjoy watching it on television usually the MLS. The new expansion team in Philadelphia is the Union. This is their second season in Philadelphia. They had less than ten wins in their first season. Now they have one of the best records in the MLS thanks to their drafts in the off season. Their future seems bright.

Feds take on the Mob

Today the alleged mob leader "Uncle Joe" was taken down. He was hit with gambling and racketeering charges. This incident is scary because it shows that organized crime is still alive today. 11 others were also taken down with Uncle Joe. What this shows me is that justice will prevail and no matter how elusive the mob may be, they can't hide from the law forever.

Ray Lewis' Inspiring Speach

Ray Lewis is respected among the whole NFL league. But while watching Sportscenter I was fortinute to see what his thoughts were on the NFL lockout, as most of you know is a big thing going around. Ray-Ray has always been an emotional character who spoke his mind but his thoughts about the lockout were inspiring even to the ESPN analists. He reminded me of God speaking through Jesus to spread the Good News and try to change people for the betterment of the world. My question is, do you think Ray Lewis is the "Jesus" of the NFL?

Goalie Change for Tampa?

In these recent 4 games vs the Boston Bruins the Tampa Bay Lighting have a tough choice to make, who will be the starting goaltender in game 5? Roloson has been the starter throughout the season but has struggled in the postseason. On the other hand, Mike Smith has been outstanding in relief for the struggling Roloson. Smith has been amazing in clutch situations and is a tremendously athletic goalie making acribatic saves and keeping his time in the game. Roloson however, has also been extremely dominate in the regular season and the first two series of the playoffs but has lost his touch against Boaton. But the question still remains, who will be the starter of game 5 for the Tampa Bay Lighting?

Joplin, Mo. Tornado

The death toll stood @ 90 on Monday after a massive tornado. The deadliest single U.S. tornado since 1953 tore through this city on Sunday. The six mile path included a hospital and a high school destroyed, cars crushed and a forest of splintered tree trunks where nieghborhoods once stood. More than 500 people were comfirmed injured. An estimated 20,000 homes and businesses were without power on Monday Morning. Is this one of the disasters scientists predicticed when they believed the world was going to end?

Music

Many people like to listen to different types of music, I for one listen to pretty much everything.. except country. I don't see why some people have such angry beliefs about whats "good". Some people that listen to rock, will talk about how "gay" rap is and how its dumb. But then others will say that rock is to much screaming. Everyone says that they listen to good music, and that what everyone else listens to isn't good. Why cant people understand that different people have different tastes?

Osama's death

The death of Osama was a recent topic of controversy around our nation. Some people celebrated his death, while others condemned the celebration of the loss of a life, no matter how evil that life may be. What do you think the different reasons for the views are? Pretty much everyone who was affected by his life, had celebrated his death. But other people will say that the celebration will not bring the thousands dead back. I for one think that it offers closure to the terror that he caused us.

Judgement Day?

Today, May 21, 2011, is supposably Judgement Day. The dead are going to rise from their graves from a massive earthquake around the world. The CDC is warning everyone about a possible "zombie" invasion. I don't believe today is the end of the world. The man who came up with the idea that the world ends May 21 is the same man who thought the world was ending in 1994. He was wrong about that date so he is most likely wrong about today too. The Bible clearly states that no one knows the date the world is going to end, only God. So trying to decide when the world ends goes against God. He wants us to live our lives and when the time comes, it comes. We can't figure out when it ends and we never will. This man has many followers. All of these people believe him because they want to believe that they know God's plan. No one knows God's plan; it is a complex plan that is too far confusing to figure out. All I plan to do is live today and wake up tomorrow.

Abortion

Number of abortions per year: 1.37 Million, Number of abortions per day: Approximately 3,700. Those statistics are from the United States and have been rapidly increasing since 1996. Many women say that the baby is going to be an inconvenience, but how can God's love be inconvenient. I believe that they should think and ask themselves ''what if i had been aborted?''. 100% of them know for a fact that their mothers loved them so much to give them life, now shouldn't they do the same for their unborn children?

Traveling

When I was sitting in my Spanish class, and some students said that they have never traveld in a plane yet, I was a little bit shocked. Now with summer comming, traveling becomes big again. I do not see my exchange programm as a vaccation, but definitley as an adventure. Traveling to a different continent, living alone in a land that does not speak "my" language and has a different culture, to me it still sounds crazy. Would that be something for you? Does somebody want to go on the other side of the world to study there? In my German school there are 23 tenth-graders right now on an exchange. That's almost a fourth of all 10th graders, so it's really big over there.
It really interests me if you ever thought about it, or if you even have plans for such a trip.

For myself, I don't know where I'll study in 3 years, I don't think that I'll go to a college, it's to expensive. Right now, it's free to study at a German university but more and more states are thinking of a fee, which would be still smaller than the costs for a college. I want to go to Australia for a longer time, to learn surfing and to see its nature, but I do not know if I want to study there. I guess learning everything in English would still make a lot of problems for me.

If you think about doing something like that, I just recommend it to you. I'm glad that I have done it and I would do it again. Even if there are a lot of problems and you sometimes just want to go home, it makes you stronger. You make so much experiences, you wouldn't make if you just stay at home.

Obsolition

As man rapidly broden his knowledge in the area of science and develops new tecnology, a new quandary is posed; are we strenghthening or losing our roots? Most of the generation being born today will have no idea what a typewriter is, and our children will look at CD's the way we view VHS'. As we are in this strive to move forward, we disregard the past and subject those who tend to straggle behind with the burden of bein left there. This could be through sheer ignorance, but the fact is that we're changing in a direction never before seen. People can argue that through the Industrial Revolution we were made more whole, but these "advances" arent just changing the workforce. These changes will make lives longer, make them easier, and offer new ways to become dependent on instant gratification opposed to work. Not all of these changes have to be bad, but we the next working generation seriously need to take the time and DECIDE how these changes will be implemented into our vastly growing population.

Cyber Bullying

Before the Internet went corporate, a few key points revealed plenty about a person … name, location, even where you had been online and for how long, but now he or she can give you the finger (figuratively speaking) and the bully’s identity remains unknown. we all know what its called, Cyber-Bullying, and the National Crime Prevention Council reports it’s a problem that affects almost half of all American teens. Without a shred of accountability, bad behavior has no consequences online. But all that changed recently, when two court cases highlighted the inadequacy of the global village to rein in troublemakers. Attack on free speech? Plague of political correctness? Anarchy has reigned, except now the cyber bullies are getting sued by the cyber babies.
